LISBON LEMON

A popular lemon producing a heavy crop of medium to large, juicy fruit with smooth skin in autumn and winter with  a light crop in spring. “Lisbon’ is a vigorous, thorny tree with green glossy leaves and fragrant, creamy white blossoms. Will grow in cooler areas.  Grows as a feature tree in Mediterranean style gardens, espaliered along a sunny wall or as an ornamental tree. The fruit is highly nutritious, rich in Vitamin C, refreshing and excellent for juicing, cooling and garnishes.

RUBY GRAPEFRUIT

A grapefruit with round, yellow fruit with pink, juicy flesh and few seeds produced in autumn and winter. ‘Ruby’ is a large compact, attractive, evergreen tree with flossy dark green leave and fragrant, creamy white blossoms. The pink colour develops best in warmer areas.  Container plant in courtyards, feature tree in Mediterranean style gardens, espaliered along a wall, ornamental tree, and the fruit has a mild flavor and is highly nutritious, refreshing and excellent for juicing, breakfast and marmalades.

LEMONADE LEMON

A hardy, productive lemon bearing medium-sized round, yellow fruit with juicy, greenish yellow flesh and few seeds. The fruit segments easily and has a refreshing taste with a lemonade-like flavor.  The sweetness of the fruit increases the long it remains on the tree. An evergreen vigorous tree which produces fruit year round. Container plant in courtyards, feature tree in Mediterranean style garden. Makes tangy lemonade drink and is ideal for juicing, cooking and garnishes. Rich in vitamin C.

TAHITIAN LIME

A popular lime with large green round fruit with tin skin and juicy, almost seedless fruit with flavorsome, acidic flesh produced in winter. Pick before the fruit turns yellow. Tahitian Limes are an attractive, small, spreading, thornless, evergreen tree with green glossy leaves and fragrant, creamy-white blossoms. Highly nutritious, rich in Vitamin C, refreshing and ideal for juicing, desserts, cocktails, garnishes, cooking especially Asian dishes and curries. Can be used as a sweeter alternative to lemons. Frost sensitive.

IMPERIAL MANDARIN

 A popular mandarin producing small to medium, orange fruit with sweetly flavored, juicy, segmented flesh and thin loose skin in late autumn. ‘Imperial’ is an attractive, small, evergreen tree with green glossy leaves and fragrant, creamy white blossoms.  Ideal in deserts snacks & garnishes.

MEYER LEMON

A popular lemon with round, medium golden fruit with juicy amber flesh, less acidic than other lemons and win skin. The fruit ripen early and remain on the tree for several months producing a good summer crop. ‘Meyer’ is an evergreen, compact tree and has green glossy leaves, thorns and fragrant, creamy –white blossoms. Will grow in cooler areas. The ‘Meyer’ Lemon is the best choice for containers.

KAFFIR LIME

Grown mainly for its leaves, which are ideal for flavoring a range of dishes, the Kaffir lime is a low, evergreen shrub. The fruit when ripe has a thick yellowish green rind with sour flesh which is slightly bitter. The leaves of the Kaffir Lime are used to flavor many Asian dishes and curries and is a special ingredient of Thai cooking. The slightly sour fruit is used in cocktails. Kaffir limes are the best choice for containers.

LANE’S LATE NAVEL ORANGE

White retaining the excellent eating qualities of navel oranges, this Australian variety produces its main crop of fruit after most navel oranges have finished. A form of Washington navel oranges have finished. A form of Washington navel, it boasts very large fruit with juicy, sweet, seedless flesh. Easy to peel and segment. A delicious fruit which is highly nutritious, rich in Vitamin C, refreshing and ideal for juicing, preserves, desserts and cooking.

HONEY MURCOTT MANDARIN

Large, orange fruit with honey sweet, juicy flesh and a firm skin which peels easily. Honey Murcott produces abundant, late season crops. An upright, vigorous tree with glossy green foliage and white, fragrant flowers. The fruit is highly nutritious, rich in Vitamin C, refreshing and excellent for desserts, snacks and garnishes.

SEEDLESS VALENCIA ORANGE

 

A popular orange producing round fruit with golden, very juicy sweet flesh with almost no seeds in spring and summer. Thin out fruit if crop is heady. ‘Seedless Valencia’ is an attractive, vigorous evergreen tree with green glossy leaves and fragrant, creamy white blossoms. Container plant in courtyards, feature tree in a sunny spot. High in vitamin C, refreshing and ideal for juicing, preserves, deserts and cooking.

 GENERAL CITRUS IMFORMATION

Plant in a sunny position with well drained soil and sheltered from strong winds. Water during the warmer months, especially when fruits are forming. In containers water every 3-4 days, more often in hot weather. Do not water the trunk. Fertilize in springs and late summer – early autumn with a fertilizer high in nitrogen, do not allow to touch trunk. Prune in late spring removing inside and weak growth and to shape the tree. Add organic matter to the soil before planning. Dig the hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place plant in hole so the soil level of the plant is the same as the surrounding soil. Fill hole firmly and water in well. If planting in containers use a premium potting mix. The container should be a minimum size of 60cm x 60cm.
