Climbers are plants that grow upward and maintain themselves on some kind of support with the aid of special adaptations. Climbing plants may clamber over a support (bougainvillea), twine up a slender support (Mandevillea), or grasp the support by aerial roots (Japanese star Jasmine). Some climbing plants when not supported become trailing plants or ground covers (Snake Vine).
