Bamboos are some of the fastest growing plants in the world, some species have been recorded as growing up to 100 cm within a 24 hour period due to a unique rhizome dependent system. However, the growth rate is dependent on local soil and climatic conditions as well as species, and a more typical growth rate for many commonly cultivated bamboos in temperate climates is in the range of 3-10 cm (1-4 inches) per day during the growing period. Bamboos are of notable economic and cultural significance in Asia, being used for building materials, as a food source, and as a versatile raw product.
ePlants produces a selective range of clumping, non- invasive Bamboo which have proven to be ideal for screening or ornamental use in the urban landscape.
The three most popular varieties are ‘Timor black’, ‘Gracillis’ and ‘Tiger grass’, though many more varieties are on offer.
Timor black is a stunning black Bamboo growing up to 10m in an open environment and in clumps of up to 2m wide, it is strong, smooth and straight and is highly sought after in the landscape industry due to it’s colour.
